The Vaquero is the original cowboy. Ever heard of the name, buckaroo? It is a derivative of the word vaquero (in Spanish the v is pronounced like a b). The Mexican vaqueros were, and still are, some of the worlds finest horsemen.

Study the early Mexican vaqueros and you’ll see that the American cowboy owes a great deal to his way of life (i.e. habits, tack, skills).
