DAVID MANN

About this artist

David Mann’s oil paintings focus on the visually rich, historic Native American culture of the mid 1800’s.  He is known for his use of strong light and dynamic shadow in daylight, and interior settings.  By drawing his main characters in closer to the viewer, he achieves a sense of personal relationship and connection to his subject matter.

Two years of religious volunteer work on the southwestern Indian reservations, plus a lifetime of involvement with his Native American models and their families has given David the ability to portray the Indian with humanity and sensitivity.

He has participated in the “Masters of the American West” at the Autry Museum, the “Quest for the West” at the Eiteljorg, and the “Prix de West” art exhibition at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

He has been featured in “Western Art Collector, “Art of the West”, and “Southwest Art” magazines.
