Created for his sister Beth: A story of life’s potential. When I put clay on the wheel, I feel as if Iâm aligning the whole universe in my hands! Like in Dr. Seussâs book, âHorton Hears a Who!â, I listen for something in the clay. That potential is intangible and it hangs in the center of our being; symbolized with the tethers hanging under the lid in this vessel. This bas-relief sculptural artwork on a bronze vessel looks as if the work was at one time, pliable, malleable or flexible. The egg shape is one of the most powerful designs in nature. Elongated legs of these âNine Musesâ are grounded on the form of the eggâs potential. The lid has a composition of horseâs legs running at full speed in a race.
Nine Muses was awarded the Susan and Robert Polack Prize at the National Sculpture Societyâs 87th Annual Awards Exhibition
