In Gary Lynn Roberts’ new piece, The Return, he paints Native American subjects on horseback returning to what can essentially be called paradise: a wooded canyon under clear skies, a shallow stream trickling past an encampment, figures in the distance ready to warmly greet the riders. “This is a place I would like to camp, or visit,” Roberts says of the scene. “It’s nestled in a place that is beautiful. I work real hard at this. I want to give viewers of my work an eyeful. I want to put something in there for everybody.”
