About this artist

Jennifer Curtis

Jennifer Curtis is one of the most respected Navajo silversmiths working today, blending precision, tradition, and an unmistakable personal style. Born in 1964 in Keams Canyon, Arizona, and raised in a remote area of the Navajo Reservation near Winslow, she grew up in the studio of her father, legendary silversmith Thomas Curtis Sr. From the age of eight, she was filing and polishing his creations, absorbing his lessons on patience, perseverance, and uncompromising quality.

In her early twenties, Jennifer began forging her own path, creating contemporary earrings, bracelets, and rings inspired by her grandmother’s weaving patterns and the techniques her father instilled in her. Over time, she gravitated toward more traditional work, embracing her father’s meticulous style and even working with his original handmade steel die stamps and preference for heavy-gauge metals.

Her hallmark deep-stamped patterns are flawlessly executed, resulting in powerful yet refined designs that radiate a classic elegance. Every piece is rooted in her connection to the land—“All of the elements I work with, the silver and the stones, come from Mother Earth”—a philosophy shaped by her upbringing on the reservation.

Jennifer’s hallmark now proudly reads simply “Jennifer,” a conscious choice to assert her identity and inspire other women to embrace their own strength. Her work carries not just beauty, but the graceful tenacity of her spirit—reminding the wearer of their own courage, resilience, and inner power.
