Learn About the Artist - JANE HUNT

Raised in England before moving to the United States as a teenager, Jane Hunt earned her B.F.A. in Illustration from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Initially an illustrator, Hunt soon found landscape painting a more meaningful way to capture the essence of nature and emotion.
Over her 35-year career, Hunt’s work has received more than 200 awards, and according to ArtDataIntel—which analyzed over a decade of national art competitions—she ranks among the top twenty awarded painters in the United States. Despite holding three nationalities—English, Irish, and American—Hunt has chosen to settle in the American West, she’s lived in Colorado for thirty years, where she is endlessly inspired by its quiet expanses and ever-changing light. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Booth Museum of Western Art and has been featured in exhibitions at prominent institutions including the MEAM Museum (Barcelona), Woolaroc Museum, National Cowboy Museum, Albuquerque Museum, Irvine Museum, Tucson Desert Art Museum, Buffalo Bill Museum, Pasadena Museum of Art, Brinton Museum, California Women’s Museum, Phippen Museum, and C.M. Russell Museum.
“My paintings are less about portraying a specific place and more about offering a sense of home—a feeling of belonging that goes beyond geography. Having moved across the Atlantic three times in my early years, I carried an enduring longing for somewhere familiar. That yearning profoundly shaped my work. Drawn to the vast, open landscapes of the American West, I find inspiration in its quiet expanses, and ever-changing light. With an impressionistic, tonal approach, I strive to create landscapes that feel timeless and universal, inviting viewers to find peace, connection, and a gentle place to rest.”
