HANNAH HARPER
Manitou Galleries
Hannah Harper grew up in the Southern Oklahoma countryside. She was encouraged to pursue creativity at a young age and collected art education from various sources. As a teenager, she took a workshop with artists John and Terri Moyers at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. Soon after, they took Hannah under their wings and have mentored her ever since. Hannah attended the Ryder Studio in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she was classically trained in painting the figure from life. She graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2019 with a BFA in studio art and completed her MFA for painting at the University of Oklahoma in 2023. Hannah currently resides in Norman, Oklahoma.
“I have always held an adoration for the natural world and its wild inhabitants. Catching insects and frogs, exploring, and drawing animals were among my favorite childhood pastimes. In my current work, it is my pursuit to portray wildlife as I saw them in my youth, with empathy and whimsy. My hope as a painter is to stir within the viewer a sense of child-like wonder towards wildlife, which possess feelings not dissimilar to our own.”
