DAKOTA PITTS
Legacy Gallery Scottsdale
Dakota Pitts is an oil painter working in the tradition of 19th-century realists.
Though he enjoyed drawing since childhood, he began painting in his mid-20s after
dedicating years to mastering the fundamentals of drawing. Inspired by artists like Edgar
Payne and Robert Henri, Dakota developed a deep appreciation for composition and
design.
Crafting his first pochade box from vintage cigar cases, Dakota began painting
landscapes and portraits from life. His work reflects a careful study of both environment
and figure, blending expressive human forms with a love for the natural world.
Passionate about travel, Dakota seeks to create meaningful connections between people
and place through his art. Still early in his career, he looks forward to a future of
continued artistic growth.
