BONNIE MARRIS

About this artist

Bonnie Marris is celebrated for her powerful and intimate portrayals of wildlife,
particularly the predators she reveres—wolves, bears, foxes, and big cats. Her work
captures not only the physical beauty of animals but also the emotional depth and
spirit of the wild.

Bonnie’s journey into art took an uncommon path. While studying at Michigan State
University, she illustrated several major scientific texts, including a comprehensive
volume on mammals. Her detailed anatomical studies drew the attention of world-
renowned zoologist George Schaller, who invited her to create artwork for global
conservation campaigns.

Experience in the field remains central to her process. Each year, Bonnie embarks
on extensive trips to observe animals in their natural environments. One of her most
formative experiences was living for six months in the Alaskan wilderness in
1980—an immersion that deeply influenced her perspective and fueled her lifelong
focus on predators. Her time in nature informs every canvas, giving her work a rare
authenticity and emotional resonance.

Bonnie Marris’ paintings are held in prominent private and public collections
across North America. With each piece, she invites viewers into the untamed world
she so passionately studies—where beauty, strength, and vulnerability coexist in
every creature she paints.
